5th annual 5k run walk for missions
Some pics from our previous events:

The Dannie Benjamin Memorial Missions Fund was established in January 2011 by First Baptist Church to carry on Dr. Benjamin's vision and love for missions.  He was a faithful member of First Baptist serving his Lord and his church as deacon, committee member, usher, cook and humble servant and example. It is supported by two main events each year: The Golf Tournement at Green Meadows and now the 5k Run/Walk on the Rocky Branch Trail.

Dr. Benjamin's call to missions led him to medical-dental mission trips to Romania and Honduras.  He not only went on these trips but worked behind the scenes by providing resources and dental supplies for short and long term ministries.  Desiring to keep the gospel and dental care going in Romania, he sponsored a dentist with materials and resources to provide ongoing free dental care in the name of Jesus to the poor in rural villages.  He also contributed to ongoing ministries of those with whom he worked in Romania and Honduras.

In 2000 he founded the First Baptist Church Dental Mission to share the gospel at home by meeting the needs of local patients.  His testimony and generosity touched many in Belmont and Gaston County.  Dr. Benjamin also wanted those who are called to be able to go on missions.  So he helped to make it possible for others to travel  to Romania, Honduras and Alaska.

Dr. Benjamin loved his Lord Jesus Christ and desired to glorify God and share His blessings using the skills and resources with which he had been blessed.

The members at First Baptist have established this fund, freely given to it and labored to raise funds for it, to show their love for Dannie Benjamin and to honor him by keeping his vision and love for missions not only at home in Belmont, our county, state, and nation, Romania, Honduras but to the ends of the earth for the glory of God.  (Matthew 28:19-20) These events draw attention to the missions and in many ways, are missions in and of themselves by giving and presenting The Gospel of Jesus Christ to all attendees.
